My name is Alvils and this is my technology (mostly IT, more specifically Linux) blog.

I am all into IT since 1994, when I wrote my first program on a (by today’s standards) crappy Soviet-made computer called “Elektronika BK-0011“. In 1995, my parents purchased me a Russian-made clone of the British ZX Spectrum, and within a year, I was coding in assembler. Since 1997, I am on a PC. In 1999, I installed a Linux system (then RedHat 5.2) and since 2003 I am using Linux as my main desktop.

For some time now I have noticed that I have accumulated significant amount of knowledge about installation, configuration and daily management of Linux servers and workstations. Of course, Windows and some more exotic systems too. This is why I decided that time has come for me to share my knowledge with the world. Sometimes in my articles I deliberately skip non-essential stuff to make them easier to read and understand. If you would like me to explain this or that in detail, do not hesitate to ask for that in comments.

Yours sincerely,

Alvils
